Evoke Pharma Crashes

EVOK Weekly Chart

EVOK Daily Chart

Evoke Pharma Inc. (EVOK) has lost over 70% today after the company’s diabetic gastroparesis drug, EVK-001, for female patients missed its primary endpoint in phase 3 topline results.

“The topline results are unexpected and an anomaly, given that metoclopramide has been approved and used for treating diabetic gastroparesis for more than 35 years. Additionally, EVK-001 provides predictable absorption of metoclopramide as seen in our prior trials,” stated Dave Gonyer, R.Ph., President and CEO. “We continue to believe that EVK-001 is a promising treatment option for patients who currently rely on oral drugs to treat their symptoms of gastroparesis. Our analysis will continue as the remainder of the data become available and an update will be provided when we have more clarity on our steps ahead.”

Evoke Pharma, Inc. is a specialty pharmaceutical company focused primarily on the development of drugs to treat gastrointestinal (GI) disorders and diseases. The company is developing EVK-001, a metoclopramide nasal spray for the relief of symptoms associated with acute and recurrent diabetic gastroparesis in women. EVK-001 is a formulation of Metoclopramide drug, designed to provide systemic delivery of metoclopramide through intranasal administration. Evoke has evaluated EVK-001 in a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled parallel group, dose-ranging Phase IIb clinical trial. Evoke Pharma has commenced a Phase III clinical trial of EVK-001 in female patients with symptoms associated with acute and recurrent diabetic gastroparesis. The Phase III clinical trial is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study evaluating the efficacy, safety and population pharmacokinetics of EVK-001 in adult females.

EVOK stock has revisited all-time lows today on the release of the phase 3 EVK-001 trail results. The long-term downtrend is readily apparent. Just fugly.
